Kitchamani MBA – Suresh Gopi, Biju menon, Navya,Jayasurya, Salim Kumar and others
Director - Samad Mankada
Suresh Gopi's foray into comedy with Kitchamani MBA, is a disappointment. Debutant director Samad Mankada, has fallen between two stools as neither is it a full length comedy, nor is it a typical Gopi film!
The idea was to give Suresh Gopi a new image and to prove that he can do comedy films, but at the end the hero himself ends up cutting a sorry figure. Actually the first 15 minutes of the film is promising as the Kitchamani character is introduced, but later it peters out to a routine masala film.
Kitchamani is an orphan who was brought up by a tea shop owner next to a government check post. Kitchamani from his childhood sees corruption at close quarters and grows up into a wheeler-dealer and a man who gets things done, for a price! And with his contacts, he is able to do the impossible- reinstate a corrupt cop, get a medical seat for an undeserving candidate or just smuggling of spirit across the border!
All that one requires is a "Kitchamani out pass", as the Member of Bachelor Association (MBA in his name stands for) runs his parallel government and gets the wrath of Devanarayanan (Biju Menon) a politician. It becomes a cat and mouse game between Kitchamani and Devanarayanan as Shivani (Navya Nair) a documentary film maker watches in glee!
Like in all Suresh Gopi films topical political happenings like Chief Minister drive against encroachment in Munnar, infighting in ruling party, corruption in the bureaucracy are all sewn into the plot. The hero walks with a comic gait and ends each sentence uttering "Narayana". This is exactly the trouble with Samad's script, as he himself cannot think of making a Suresh Gopi film without his trademark image trappings!
Added to that there is a whole lot of supporting cast like Jayasurya, Salim Kumar, Indrans, Cochin Haneefa and other usual comedians. After interval the film starts dragging, and song picturisation is terrible.
